UNDERSTANDING DIGITAL SYSTEMS
Demonstrate an understanding that digital systems have components with basic functions that may connect together to form networks which transmit data.
Digital Systems
You will be making a slideshow presentation explaining digital systems.
Firstly, look though the following document about technology past and present and make some dot point notes in a google doc about how technology has changed over the years.

Next you will be gaining an understanding of what makes up Digital Systems.
Digital systems are made up of Hardware, Software and Peripheral Devices that work together to perform tasks.
Look through the following document and make further notes in your google doc about the 3 parts that make up digital systems. Make sure you include some examples.

Networks
A computer network is a set of computers connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. The most common resource shared today is connection to the Internet. Other shared resources can include a printer or a file server. The Internet itself can be considered a computer network.
Below is a diagram of a typical computer network.
As part of your slide show, you will be making a similar diagram on one slide, showing the components of our school network. This will require you, before the next part of the task, to take photos of the various network components. Some images (eg, server, switches and router) will be provided for you.

Digital Systems Task - Part 2 - Slideshow
You are required to make a 6 slide slideshow in Google Slides. The slides should be as follows:
Slide 1 - Title - Digital Systems
Your name
Picture related to digital systems
Slide 2 - Title - Technology past and Present
A few sentences about how technology has changed over the years. Include some examples of what technology has changes and how it has changed and a couple of photos of old and new technology to compare.
Slides 3, 4 & 5 - A slide each on Hardware, Software and Peripheral Devices.
Each slide should have a title, description, examples and pictures.
Slide 6 - Title - Networks
You will need to make your own network diagram using photos you have taken yourself as well as photos provided for you.
It will need to be similar to the network diagram example showing the names of the various parts of the network, the pictures and how the parts of the network are connected.
Some pictures have been provided for you, others you will need to take photos of the items at the school, such as the computers, an iPad, the printer, the wireless access point etc. The need to be photos of the actual items at our school, not images from the internet!
You may need to crop some of your photos and resize them.
The following images are for you to use in your network diagram. They are
Firewall, Internet, Router, Server and Switch
You can right click on them and copy or save them to use in your diagram.
Power Edge is the Server and the One with lots of green cables is the switch
